George Monbiot
Tackling the
corporate takeover
|
| |
George Monbiot is an influential investigative writer, columnist
for The Guardian, environmental activist and author of Captive
State: the Corporate Takeover of Britain.
He started the campaign against mahogany imports in Britain,
joined the direct action movement against road building and
founded the land rights group The Land is Ours.
George explores the influence of corporate power, its threat
to our democracy, and how we can go about Preventing the Corporate
Takeover of Britain.

Climate Change:
Why buildings have to change
|

Susan
Roaf is a professor of architecture at Oxford Brookes University.
For the last ten years she has researched the relationship between
energy, the environment and buildings. Not content with a merely
academic approach, she built her own ground-breaking solar electric
house in Oxford, the first in Britain. She publishes widely
on many topics, including the traditional building technologies
of developing countries, and is co-founder of the International
Organisation for Teachers of Architecture. Her talk demonstrates
just how much can be done to ameliorate the massive environmental
impact of buildings.
